Dear Screen Sector Colleagues,

As you would no doubt be aware by now, in order to ensure the health and safety of our community, South Australian Premier Steven Marshall today announced a new set of COVID-19 restrictions for our state which come into effect from midnight tonight (Wednesday 18 November). You can find out more about the “circuit breaker” restrictions here.

These new restrictions present challenges for all South Australians, and we appreciate they will have impacts for the broader screen sector also.

As always, the SAFC’s focus continues to be the support, growth and safety of the South Australian screen industry and its practitioners.

I want to reassure you that the SAFC is continuing to work behind the scenes to keep operations running smoothly, and we are taking all steps to ensure that, wherever possible, impact to productions and agency activities remains minimal.

We are in direct contact with current productions affected by these restrictions, and we are working closely with SA Health and other SA Government authorities to monitor latest advice and updates as they come to hand.

In line with State Government advice we are closing our Adelaide Studios facilities during this period, effective from midnight tonight (18 November, 2020), but I want to reassure you that the SAFC remains operational and we continue to administer programs as normal. SAFC staff are still contactable as normal via phone and email for any enquiries you might have.

UPDATE 24 NOVEMBER, 2020: In line with SA Government directions updated on 22 November 2020, the SAFC’s Adelaide Studios facilities will reopen on Tuesday 24 November, 2020, however the current SA Government recommendation is for people to continue to work from home wherever practicable. In line with this recommendation the SAFC is supporting staff to continue to work from home, where their role allows. Please note the SAFC is still operational and will continue to administer funds and programs as normal. SAFC staff are still contactable as normal via phone and email for any enquiries you might have – for individual staff contacts, see Our Staff.

The SAFC and the wider South Australian screen sector successfully navigated the first wave of the pandemic earlier this year. As we continue to work with SA Health and SA Government on best practice response, we are confident we can work through this new and evolving set of challenges to return stronger and safer on the other side once again.

In the meantime, we recommend the below resources and support, and welcome feedback from the sector at any time via email at [email protected]
