SAFC moves to Department for Industry and Skills
12 July 2018
Hi All,
As some of you may be aware, the South Australian Film Corporation, the Adelaide Film Festival (including Hybrid World Adelaide), and the screen business more broadly in SA, are being transferred from Arts South Australia to the Department for Industry and Skills.
Joining us in Industry and Skills are the Music Development Office, including the St Paul’s Creative Centre, and the Jam Factory.
The purpose of this Machinery of Government change is to ensure the creative industries remain prominent in the new economy in SA, and indeed to enable a more commercial approach to the creative industries. This will in turn optimise our ability to grow our businesses, to create more jobs, enable greater innovation and deliver even stronger screen content outcomes. The Department for Industry and Skills provides a contextual framework for the continuing evolution of our industry, and of pathways into it for emerging screen creatives and crew.
Exploring opportunities for new partnerships and collaborations will be central to our approach, and we look forward to these, as well as to continue working with colleagues in the Arts portfolio.
The SAFC looks forward to working with the Minister for Industry and Skills, The Hon. David Pisoni, MP and the Department for Industry and Skills.
Kind regards,
Courtney Gibson
Chief Executive, South Australian Film Corporation
