23 October 2025

Are you a South Australian-based game developer or involved in the business of developing, financing, or publishing games? Would you like to make a real difference to our state’s local game industry?
Call for Expressions of Interest
SAFC Games Industry Advisory Group
Closes 5pm 21 November 2025
The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) warmly invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from SA-based game developers or individuals involved in the development, financing, or publishing of games to join our new Games Industry Advisory Group (GIAG).
The SAFC seeks to empower South Australian game developers to create world-class interactive experiences, and to connect the state’s creativity, innovation, and technical excellence with audiences across Australia and internationally. We are committed to strengthening the profile of SA’s games industry by supporting diverse voices, fostering sustainable careers, and creating opportunities in an environment that is both professionally rigorous and creatively ambitious.
We are looking for bold, insightful, and constructive thinkers to join GIAG. Members will contribute industry experience, business acumen, and strategic guidance across a wide range of areas including SAFC’s Digital Game Development Strategy, existing programs and initiatives, organisational governance, legal and regulatory matters, and potential new programs. The Group will also help identify and interpret games industry trends, ensuring SA’s studios and individual developers are supported to adopt best-practices and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global market.
The GIAG’s work will inform a range of initiatives, programs, and policies related to the digital game sector.
The group will comprise up to six experienced and respected SA-based games industry experts.
Games Industry Advisory Group members:
- will be appointed for two-year terms
- will select a Chair from amongst the group
- will be entitled to receive fees for attending GIAG meetings (at least three of four scheduled meetings a year), as well as ad hoc SAFC and industry events as requested
- may attend meetings conducted in person and/or online
- must act respectfully, in good faith and in the interests of the SAFC at all times, abiding by the SAFC’s Values, Code of Conduct, Terms of Trade, and any other applicable SAFC policies, procedures or governance frameworks such as those relating to conflict of interest and confidentiality.
SAFC staff will prepare and distribute meeting papers and assist members with other travel and accommodation arrangements where applicable.
Selection Process
Membership of the GIAG will be decided by the SAFC CEO with advice from the Game Development Executive and Head of Production. We seek to ensure diverse screen sector expertise as well as background, gender, age, and location (including regional and remote).
EOIs no longer than 3 pages in length should outline your background (e.g. professional, community, and/or industry experience), why you wish to join the GIAG, indicate any past involvement with our programs or initiatives, and address the following selection criteria:
- knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following: game development, games publishing, games business development, games finance, legal or organisational governance
- demonstrated understanding of the games industry and its trends, challenges, and opportunities at both state, national and global levels
- connection to and within the SA games sector and broader creative industries
- demonstrated passion for empowering SA game developers and strengthening the local ecosystem
- commitment to fostering safe, respectful, and inclusive industry practices
- solutions-focused mindset with the ability to think strategically and laterally
- confirmation of your ability to meet the time and other commitments expected of GIAG members.
All aspiring GIAG members should read the Games Industry Advisory Group Terms of Reference before submitting an EOI.
The SAFC is also committed to supporting increased participation by people from other groups underrepresented in the South Australian screen industry including women, First Nations, Deaf and/or disabled, CALD, LGBTQIA+ and from regional and remote areas. We invite you to indicate if you identify with any of these groups as part of your EOI.
Expressions of Interest should be emailed to [email protected] by 5pm on 21 November 2025.
