SAFC farewells Kath McIntyre

15 January 2025

The SAFC bids a fond farewell to Industry Development and Training Executive Kath McIntyre, who has finished with the agency this week after four years.

A factual director, field producer and screen industry executive with deep connections across all aspects of the South Australian screen industry, Kath joined the SAFC in 2020 as Development and Industry Development Executive before being appointed to the role of Industry Development and Training Executive in 2023.

In her time at the SAFC Kath has been instrumental in driving initiatives and activities to increase the capacity of the SA screen sector by connecting industry with education, training, Government and the general public, such as the Skilling SA and Master/Apprentice programs, the SAFC’s SA Screen Industry Workforce Development Strategy, and two SA Screen Industry Career Days at Adelaide Studios. Kath was also a key driver of the SAFC’s successful Film Lab: New Voices program, co-funded by Adelaide Film Festival and Screen Australia, which has seen the production of acclaimed feature films Monolith and Lesbian Space Princess from first-time South Australian feature filmmakers and is now in its third round.

SAFC Head of Production and Development and Acting CEO Leanne Saunders said: “Kath has been an instrumental and much loved part of the SAFC team, valued not only by her colleagues but by so many in the wider screen sector whose work has been supported through her dedication, diligence and passionate advocacy.

“Kath has been a driving force for many SAFC programs and initiatives to support and grow the South Australian screen industry, and her efforts in leading the Film Lab: New Voices program have seen a new generation of talented South Australian filmmakers reach new heights of success. On behalf of the SAFC I wish to thank Kath for her hard work, professionalism and passion and wish her all the best with her next endeavours.”
