New Ursula Dabrowsky horror Ruby Ruby begins production in South Australia

Production is now underway in South Australia on Ruby, Ruby, a new supernatural horror feature film from SA writer/director Ursula Dabrowksy and producer Antony I. Ginnane.
Supported by the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) and in association with Headgear Films and Arterial Films, Ruby, Ruby marks the fourth horror project for Ursula Dabrowsky, a pseudonym of Barossa Valley screenwriter, director and producer Sue Brown.
The film is inspired by the urban legend of 18-year-old Ruby Bland, who died in 1909 in Kapunda, South Australia – with claims her ghost haunts the town’s St John’s Cemetery.
In Ruby, Ruby, Ollie and Hannah awaken a deadly curse when they find themselves trapped in a haunted cemetery with a malicious predator, thrusting them into a nightmarish battle for survival against evils, both supernatural and human. The restless spirit of a murdered girl Ruby Brand is unable to move on into the afterlife and seems locked for eternity to terrorise the cemetery where she is buried. That is until Ollie and Hannah awaken her vengeful ghost, giving her the opportunity to change the course of her destiny.
Ruby, Ruby stars Sarah Jeavons (The Shadows of Trust, Smashed) as Ollie and SA’s Luca Sardelis (RFDS, The Hunting) as Hannah. Support cast includes SA actors Barrie Cotton, Asha O’Connell, Jordan Cowan and Henry Cooper, and Tommy Darwin.
Ursula Dabrowsky has written and directed three award-winning features: self-financed psychological horror Family Demons; SAFC FilmLab horror Inner Demon; and crowd funded psychological horror thriller The Devil’s Work.
Antony I. Ginnane’s most recent credits include the award-winning feature Last Dance, Never Too Late, The Girl At The Window and The Travellers, as well as Australian classics The Lighthorsemen, Patrick and High Tide.
South Australian Heads of Department include Line Producer Chloe Gardner, Director of Photography David Gregan, Production Designer Gareth Wilkes, First Assistant Director James Dubay and Editor Wilson Tran.

It is a horror film about rage, grief, and stolen agency and a project that deepens and refines the creative approach my team and I have developed over multiple films. Together, we are telling a story that refuses silence and confronts what has been buried, using horror not as spectacle, but as a means of reckoning.”
Antony I. Ginnane said: “The horror genre is my favourite and I made it my own in the late 70s and early 80s. Here we are again 40 years later exploring a new revenge fuelled take on the uncanny. It’s Candyman meets The Amityville Horror in South Australia.”
