Calling all emerging South Australian screen creatives: The Mercury’s Quicksilver Production Funding Initiative is back, with applications open now until 17 September, 2023.

Supported with funding from the SAFC, The Mercury Quicksilver initiative is South Australia’s short film fund for emerging screen creatives.

This year more than $100,000 in funding grants are on offer for South Australian creatives to produce 12 short film projects up to 15 minutes each, including two First Nations projects. First Nations creatives are also eligible to submit Proof of Concept Works that are 5 to 7 minutes in length.

What’s on offer:

General Production Grants

These projects must be a short narrative or documentary film up to 15 min end run time OR a web series project totalling 15 min end run time.

First Nations Production Grants

These projects can be either a short narrative or documentary film OR a Proof of Concept (POC) between 5-7 minutes in length.

Each selected project will also include one mentor for a key creative or HOD of your choice. First Nations projects will be matched with a mentor for either the Writer, Director, Producer, or a collective project-based mentor.

Those looking to submit a project can take advantage of The Mercury’s Script Consultations throughout early September to receive feedback and advice on their project and application.

The Mercury is proudly funded by the SAFC to provide support to the emerging screen sector.
