Having led the nation with the ground-breaking, Australia-first 10% SA Video Game Development Rebate (SA VGD rebate) launched last year, the SAFC welcomes today’s announcement from the Federal Government of a new 30% refundable Digital Games Tax Offset for video game development in Australia.

This exciting new Federal Initiative will provide a major boost to South Australia’s thriving games industry, further driving jobs, growth and investment, and enhancing the important work the SAFC has been doing to the support the sector as the state’s all-screen agency.

As the first state in Australia to launch a Video Game Development Rebate, and as the home of world-leading companies like Australian Studio of the Year winners Team Cherry and Mighty Kingdom, which recently listed on the ASX, as well as international success stories Foxie Games, ODD Games, Monkeystack, Killerfish Games and more, South Australia’s reputation as the country’s premier destination for video game production is set to grow even further, with more opportunities for local developers to take an even bigger bite out of this $250 billion global industry.
