SAFC seeks new stories through Heard…seen First Nations Podcasting Initiative
06 July 2026

Calling all South Australian First Nations storytellers! Make your voice heard through the SAFC’s Heard…seen First Nations Podcasting Initiative.
This initiative will offer up to eight South Australian First Nations storytellers the opportunity to learn foundational skills that underpin the three core phases of film, television and other screen content – pre-production, production and post production.
Develop your skills in narrative pacing, technical sound design, interviewing remote subjects and multi-platform distribution.
Delivered for the SAFC by experienced First Nations broadcaster and facilitator Raymond Zada, the podcasting initiative will encompass two workshops held in the Pirrku Kuu Hub (Story Room) at Adelaide Studios plus post-workshop support.

The two intensive workshops, held across 10–11 and 24–25 August, will cover:
- Basic audio recording and editing principles and skills using a smartphone
- Developing effective audio interviewing techniques
- Building narrative storytelling skills in an audio podcasting format
- Understanding the fundamentals of podcasting and podcasting distribution pathways
Through the workshops and mentorship, each participant will create a 10–15 minute pilot podcast episode over the course of eight weeks.
Heard…seen builds on the success of the SAFC’s Regional SA First Nations Podcast Program delivered in partnership with Country Arts SA and Riverland Youth Theatre in 2021. The initiative saw four compelling new podcasts released to indigiTUBE, the only media platform by and for First Nations People.
Applications close Monday 27 July. For more information and to apply, go to www.safilm.com.au/funding-programs#podcast
