SAFC response to proposed US screen tariffs
06 May 2025

The SAFC, along with Screen Australia, other state screen agencies and Australian industry bodies, are closely monitoring the situation related to potential tariffs on films proposed by the US President yesterday.
At this point in time, there is no information regarding how the tariffs would be structured or imposed, or what they would apply to, should they come to fruition.
We will continue to monitor this fluid situation, and will work collaboratively with fellow screen agencies and industry bodies to seek clarity and provide guidance to the South Australian screen sector as further details emerge.
The screen industry is a significant driver of employment and economic investment in South Australia, injecting $187 million into the state’s economy and supporting 2,297 jobs each year. Through initiatives such as the Screen Production Fund and ABC SAFC Content Pipeline Fund, and the SA PDV Rebate, the SAFC is proud to support a growing pipeline of quality South Australian led film and TV production and post production in the state, and we are committed to supporting industry to ensure its continued strength and sustainability.
The SAFC is committed to clear and open communication with industry, and will work to keep the sector updated on this situation. We welcome feedback and questions from sector members on this issue, so that we can seek clarification on what is most important for industry. Industry members are invited to contact the SAFC via [email protected]
