Are you a South Australian-based First Nations person who wants to make a real difference to our state’s screen sector?

Call for Expressions of Interest
SAFC First Nations Advisory Group
This call out is now closed.

The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) warmly invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from SA-based First Nations screen practitioners and members of the broader SA First Nations community to join our new First Nations Advisory Group (FNAG).

The SAFC seeks to empower world-class SA screen production and connect our state’s diverse voices, stories, artistry and identity to audiences in Australia and around the world. We’re committed to highlighting and supporting First Nations voices and stories on screens locally and globally through connection and opportunities in an environment that is professionally and culturally strong. Cultural safety for First Nations people is important to us. Our values include meaningful and respectful two-way engagement to inform all that we do with and for First Nations stakeholders.

We’re looking for bold, insightful and constructive thinkers to join the FNAG and support the SAFC through providing industry experience, cultural expertise and guidance to ensure best practice ways of working with First Nations communities and non-Indigenous clients and stakeholders.

The FNAG’s work will inform the SAFC’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, First Nations Screen Strategy, and Reconciliation Action Plan, and a range of other initiatives, programs, and policies.

The group will comprise up to six experienced and respected SA-based First Nations people from across the community including in the creative arts (encompassing screen), cultural, and business sectors.

First Nations Advisory Group members:

SAFC staff will prepare and distribute meeting papers and assist members with other travel and accommodation arrangements where applicable.

Selection Process

Membership of the FNAG will be decided by the SAFC CEO with advice from the Head of First Nations and Head of Production. We seek to ensure diverse screen sector expertise as well as background, gender, age, and location (including regional and remote).

EOIs no longer than 3 pages in length should outline your background (e.g. community, cultural and/or professional), why you wish to join the FNAG, indicate any past involvement with the SAFC or its programs, and address the following selection criteria:

All aspiring FNAG members should read the FNAG Terms of Reference before submitting an EOI.

The SAFC is also committed to supporting increased participation by people from other groups underrepresented in the South Australian screen industry including; women, Deaf and disabled, CALD, LGBTQIA+ and from regional and remote areas. We invite you to indicate if you identify with any of these groups as part of your EOI.

NOTE: Members of the former SAFC First Nations Advisory Committee and First Nations Screen Advisory Committee are eligible to nominate. The FNAG and its membership will be promoted on the SAFC website.

Expressions of Interest are now closed.
