SAFC farewells Tyme Childs

The SAFC bids a fond farewell to First Nations Industry Development Executive Tyme Childs, who finishes with the agency this month after two years.
Tyme has been a much valued part of the Production and Development team since joining the SAFC in December 2022, developing and delivering industry development programs and key initiatives and growing engagement for the First Nations SA screen sector.
Tyme has played a key role in delivering the SAFC’s First Nations Screen Strategy 2020-2025, overseeing projects and initiatives including the First Nations Short Film Program, which saw three new short films from emerging SA First Nations filmmakers premiere at SXSW Sydney and screen at the Adelaide Film Festival; the SAFC and Channel 44 First Nations TV Pilot Program; the SAFC First Nations Advisory Committee; and a First Nations professional development program including workshops for First Nations screen practitioners. Tyme also contributed to the SAFC’s new Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2024-26.
SAFC Head of Production and Development Leanne Saunders said: “Tyme has contributed significantly to the work of the Production and Development team in supporting South Australia’s First Nations screen sector. The SAFC has long been committed to growing, highlighting and supporting South Australian First Nations voices and stories on screens locally and globally, and on behalf of everyone at the SAFC I’d like to thank Tyme for her hard work, dedication and passion in helping us continue that important work.”
The SAFC is currently recruiting for a Head of First Nations. An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified position, this role will report to the CEO and be a critical member of the SAFC’s executive leadership team, with the senior executive responsible for delivering on the SAFC’s commitment to elevating First Nations voices and stories.
