SAFC farewells board members Angela Heesom and Shouwn Oosting
26 February 2026

The SAFC bids a warm farewell and thank you to SAFC Board Members Angela Heesom and Shouwn Oosting, who have both concluded their terms after three years of service.
A pioneer of the South Australian screen industry, Angela Heesom established South Australia’s first dedicated casting agency, Heesom Casting, in 2000 and has since established herself as a multi-award-winning casting agent.
She has over 100 credits to her name, including major productions Mortal Kombat, Aftertaste, Storm Boy, and the Wolf Creek movies and TV series. Angela has worked closely with Australian and international producers and directors as well as highly-regarded local film makers and emerging short film makers.
Angela has generously shared her decades of experience and expertise with the SAFC Board and team since her appointment in December 2022 and will continue to support South Australia’s screen sector through her training and mentorship of local emerging on-screen talent.
Shouwn Oosting is a Waanyi Garrwa descendent with over 25 years’ experience working in the federal and state public sector with a strong focus on First Nations policy coordination and program delivery. He currently works at KSJ Consulting Service, where he delivers First Nations engagement consultancy services to a diverse range of clients across industry sectors including the South Australian Government, construction, water, training, community, arts and screen sectors.
Shouwn has played an integral role in supporting the SAFC’s First Nations Screen Strategy and broader reconciliation journey since his appointment in 2022, both through his contributions to the Board and as a past member First Nations Advisory Group and ongoing member of the SAFC’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group.
SAFC CEO Kate Croser said: “As SAFC Board members both Angela and Shouwn have made a lasting contribution to the success of the South Australian screen industry. A veteran of the South Australian screen industry and internationally regarded casting agent, Angela has brought a wealth of industry knowledge and networks to the SAFC Board. The SAFC has benefited from Shouwn’s strong expertise in governance and engagement, and he has played an integral role in supporting the agency’s reconciliation journey. We are delighted he will continue to do so as a member of the SAFC’s RAP Working Group. On behalf of the SAFC, I’d like to thank both Angela and Shouwn for their outstanding contributions to the SAFC and broader screen industry.”
SAFC Board Chair Mike Rann AC CNZM said: “Both Angela and Shouwn have been invaluable members of the SAFC Board. Angela’s decades of experience as a casting director and screen sector leader and Shouwn’s knowledge of the public sector and First Nations consultancy have brought so much to the SAFC, and it has been a pleasure working with them both. On behalf of the SAFC Board and team, I thank Angela and Shouwn for their dedication and commitment to supporting and championing the SA screen sector.”
