SAFC appoints new First Nations Industry Development Executive

The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) is delighted to welcome Tyme Childs as the agency’s new First Nations Industry Development Executive.
Tyme is a First Nations woman of Bibbulmun, Palyku, Bunuba, Walmajarri and English heritage raised on Kaurna and Peramangk country with strong attachments to the west and south.
A newcomer to the screen industry, Tyme has worked across a variety of sectors, most recently in senior policy and advisory roles advocating for high level strategic business outcomes in government and not-for-profit settings that impact positively on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, projects, and initiatives. Passionate about film and television from an early age, Tyme has a Bachelor of Arts in Screen, Media and Australian Studies from Flinders University.
Tyme will play a key role in delivering the SAFC’s First Nations Screen Strategy 2020-2025 and will work closely with SAFC First Nations Screen Strategy Executive Pauline Clague to oversee the continued implementation of the strategy. She will also be a pivotal part of the Production and Development team, helping develop and deliver industry development programs and contribute to the agency’s ongoing Reconciliation Action Plan.
SAFC CEO Kate Croser said: “We are delighted to welcome Tyme to the SAFC and are excited to have her join the team in the key role of First Nations Industry Development Executive. The SAFC has long been committed to growing, highlighting and supporting South Australian First Nations voices and stories on screens locally and globally, and we look forward to working with Tyme to continue this important work.”
