Calling all SA video game developers! Want to learn how to create the perfect pitch for your game?
In the lead-up to the 2025 SAGE: SA Game Exhibition the SAFC is presenting a Pitching Intensive afternoon with Sorcha Millican-Nagle of PlaySide Studios and games business development consultant Jon Cartwright of Game Consulting.
Applications are open now to South Australian video game developers to participate in this free two-part intensive, which will take place in the afternoon of Thursday, 6 February 2025 at Adelaide Studios.
Pitch Perfect: Pitching your game to publishers with PlaySide & Jon Cartwright
Part 1: Pitching to Publishers Presentation with PlaySide
Learn how to create and present a pitch that resonates with publishers in this hands-on session with Sorcha Millican-Nagle of Melbourne’s PlaySide Studios. Bring your current pitch deck along and discover how to level it up!
In this session Sorcha will cover:
- Key elements of a strong pitch,
- Developing a unique selling proposition,
- Presentation technique and skills,
- Common mistakes,
- Practical templates to use.
Part 2: Pitch Practice Panel
Drawing on the skills, tips and advice learned in part one, present your game pitch deck to the room. Get practical, first-hand experience doing a live pitch presentation and hone your skills in a friendly, helpful environment.
You’ll get live feedback from Sorcha Millican-Nagle of PlaySide Studios and games business development consultant Jon Cartwright, and you’ll have a chance to ask questions of these industry experts who have extensive experience with game pitching.
Get tips and advice on how to tweak your pitch for publishers, how to present with confidence, and which parts of your game stand out the most.
Eligibility and selection criteria
Applicants must complete an application form presenting the SAFC with details about your game project, along with a current pitch deck. Note your pitch deck does not need to be perfect or finished, but it should provide a good overview of the project. Applicants must also provide a statement indicating their intended outcomes from this session.
PLEASE NOTE: All eligible applicants will be invited to attend both Part 1 and Part 2 of the intensive, however only selected applicants will be invited to present their pitch in Part 2. Selected applicants will be notified in advance.
Applications will be judged on the following criteria:
- Suitability of the project;
- Quality of their current pitch deck;
- Current stage of development;
- Willingness to take on and incorporate feedback.
To be eligible for this event you must:
- Be a South Australian resident, aged 18 or over;
- Not be a part-time or full-time student;
- Be actively working on a digital game;
- Be readying a digital game for pitch to market.
Showcasing your game at SAGE 2025 is not a prerequisite for participation.
Developers may apply as a team or individually.
