Geoffrey Rush and Jai Courtney cast in Storm Boy

Ambience Entertainment today announced Academy Award® winner Geoffrey Rush (Shine, The King’s Speech, Pirates of the Caribbean) and Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad, The Water Diviner, Divergent) will star in the upcoming film Storm Boy.

A contemporary re-telling of the 1976 iconic family film, Storm Boy will begin principal photography this July across South Australia. Geoffrey Rush will star as Mike “Storm Boy” Kingley and Jai Courtney stars as “Hideaway Tom”.  

Winner of numerous international accolades, Rush’s awards include the rare Triple Crown of an Oscar®, an Emmy and a Tony, three British Film Academy Awards, three Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Awards, two Golden Globe® Awards, four Screen Actor Guild Awards and more recently the 2017 Berlinale Camera Award. Rush is currently starring in National Geographic’s scripted 10 part TV drama series GENIUS as Albert Einstein and in the upcoming Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

One of Australia’s most successful acting exports, Courtney has appeared in numerous Hollywood blockbusters including, A Good Day to Die Hard with Bruce Willis, Jack Reacher with Tom Cruise, Suicide Squad, Unbroken, Insurgent and Terminator: Genisys. He also stars in the soon to be released feature, The Exception, alongside Christopher Plummer and Lily James.

Award winning director Shawn Seet (Two Fists One Heart; Deep Water; The Code) will helm Storm Boy, using cutting edge CGI technology, 3D animation and live footage.
