EOIs now open: Host Production Companies for the 2023 Emerging Writers’ Incubator
06 February 2023
Screen Australia is seeking expressions of interest from production companies to take part in the third year of placements for the Emerging Writers’ Incubator, supported in South Australia by the South Australian Film Corporation.
Under the program, six successful writers from backgrounds with lived experiences currently underrepresented in the sector will be employed for 12 months in six production companies around the country, with the next placements expected to commence from November 2023. The production companies will each receive up to $80,000 to cover the salary for the writer and are expected to facilitate opportunities and support the writer to perform and develop their skills.
Now in its third year, South Australian writer Elena Carapetis is currently undertaking placement as part of the 2022 SBS Emerging Writers’ Incubator, working with producer Lisa Scott of Highview Productions. She follows in the footsteps of SA writer Ansuya Nathan who was selected for the inaugural Incubator program in 2021, through which she undertook a 12-month paid placement with SA’s Closer Productions.
Expressions of Interest are open for companies to participate in the next round of the initiative. To find out about eligibility requirements and submit your expression of interest, click here.
Applications close at 5.00pm Thursday 2 March, 2023.
