Dev Patel’s Monkey Man showcases South Australian talent

As Dev Patel’s directorial debut Monkey Man breaks the $10 million mark in the US box office following its US premiere in Los Angeles last week, the SAFC is delighted to highlight and celebrate the many South Australian connections to the film as a showcase of local screen sector talent.

SA screen creative Tilda Cobham Hervey is co-producer on the film, with SA PDV company Artisan Post Group (APG) providing post-sound and VFX services, working from the SAFC’s Adelaide Studios production facilities and innovation hub Lot Fourteen.

Anton Andreacchio and Mike Darren of APG are credited as Post Producer and Supervising Sound Editor respectively, leading a team that included SA sound practitioners Leah McKeownHamish KeenPete SmithTom HeuzenroederDuncan CampbellAdrian MedhurstJohn Simpson and Effie Pashidis and SA post production practitioners Carlo Andreacchio and Brett Manson.

SA practitioner Jack Smith was Associate Editor, working closely with Dev Patel from Adelaide, London and Los Angeles, with SA creatives Cleland JonesRegg Swarko and Dave Birrell also contributing to the production.

“The project was highly complex, with teams working across Canada, US and South Australia,” Anton Andreacchio said.

The Adelaide Studios’ internationally renowned Dolby Certified Mixing Theatre has hosted many high-profile productions in the past decade, including SA director Sophie Hyde‘s BAFTA nominated feature film Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, AACTA nominated films The Furnace and I Am Woman, and Australian box office smash Top End Wedding.
