Comedy drama Never Too Late to shoot in South Australia

06 March 2019

The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) today announced that production of feature film comedy drama Never Too Late (former working title: The Chain Breakers) will take place in South Australia, with the shoot to commence in March 2019.

Described as cross between Grumpy Old Men and The Great Escape, Never Too Late is the riotous story of four heroic Vietnam veterans, famous for escaping from a POW camp, whose new challenge is to break out of the nursing home from hell to chase their unrealised dreams.

An all-star ensemble cast is attached, including iconic Australian performers Jack Thompson AM (Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence), two-time Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook, Animal Kingdom) and Shane Jacobson (Kenny, The Bourne Legacy) alongside renowned British actor Dennis Waterman (New Tricks, The Sweeney) and Oscar nominated actor James Cromwell (The Green Mile, Babe). Australia’s Roy Billing (The Dish) has also joined the cast.

With funding from the SAFC, the shoot will take place on location in South Australia and at Adelaide Studios.

Never Too Late will be directed by Mark Lamprell (My Mother Frank, A Few Less Men), written by screenwriter and crime novelist Luke Preston and produced by Antony I Ginnane (Patrick, Last Dance) and David Lightfoot (Wolf Creek).
