Apply now: AiF Inside a US Writers’ Room

Want to know what happens in a real US TV writers’ room? The SAFC is offering five subsidised spaces for SA writers to observe the Australians in Film (AiF) Insider Sessions – Live Online TV Writers’ Room, powered by Netflix.
Led by writer/producer Joe Peracchio (The Flash, The Messengers), who is also a script and story consultant on several series with Netflix International in the Middle East, Brazil and India, over the course of four sessions you’ll witness the collaborative magic that turns a roomful of ideas into a cohesive episode.
Through observing, participants will:
- Learn directly from an international showrunner and educator
- Position yourself for future global opportunities
- Expand your storytelling toolkit in a practical, career-focused setting
All who register will receive a copy of the pilot script prior to the start of the room so they can follow along the brainstorming process. The series we will be working on is a one-hour light crime procedural drama.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a South Australian resident and meet the general eligibility requirements in the SAFC Terms of Trade
- Have a genuine and demonstrated interest and experience in pursuing a career as a screenwriter
- Be available to attend the four sessions live online:
- Wednesday October 22, 8.30am – 10.00am ACDT
- Tuesday October 28, 8.30am – 10.30am ACDT
- Wednesday October 29, 8.30am – 10.30am ACDT
- Thursday, October 30, 8.30am – 10.30am ACDT

Applications will be assessed by the SAFC based on the strength of the EOI, suitability to the workshop and identified outcomes to be achieved.

Applicants will be notified on Monday 20 October.
