Apply now: AiF Inside a US Comedy Writers’ Room
17 April 2026

Want to know how a TV comedy episode actually gets written? The SAFC is offering ten subsidised passes for SA writers to observe the Australians in Film (AiF) Insider Sessions – Inside a U.S. Writers’ Room: LIVE! Comedy Edition, delivered in partnership with Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG).
Led by acclaimed writer and producer Sam Laybourne (DMV, Acapulco, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), observers will learn the dos and don’ts of working in a US comedy writers’ room, how to pitch effectively, collaborate with other writers, make themselves indispensable in the room, and avoid common pitfalls.
All who register will receive a copy of the pilot script in advance to follow the process and watch the episode take shape in real time.
More information on the sessions is available here.
