Anthony Maras’ Pressure showcases South Australian talent
19 October 2026

Hollywood stars, a pivotal moment in World War II history and some of South Australia’s best screen talent have come together in Pressure, the latest feature film from SA writer/director Anthony Maras having its Australian premiere at this year’s Adelaide Film Festival.
Starring Hollywood heavyweight Brendan Fraser and acclaimed actor Andrew Scott, Pressure tells the story of the tense 72 hours before D-Day, when the fate of the Allied invasion rested on a critical weather forecast. Behind the high-profile production is South Australia’s screen industry, with the state’s world class PDV sector playing a role in delivering this major international film.
While the film was shot in the UK, Maras chose to bring the project back to South Australia for post production, with the SAFC’s SA PDV Rebate supporting work by SA studios Rising Sun Pictures, Artisan Post Group and Studio 508.
“Having done post on all my films here in Adelaide, I’ve just been so lucky to find such amazing collaborators here,” Maras said.
“You find a shorthand together, a synchronicity, and the work is all the better for it. Plus it’s just such a beautiful place to work from. Initiatives like PDV Rebate are essential in making this possible.”
The Rising Sun Pictures team was led by SA VFX Producer Paul Aton, while Studio 508’s work was led by SA sound designers Duncan Campbell and Tom Heuzenroeder. The Artisan Post Group team was led by SA’s Michael Darren, from their base at Adelaide Studios, utilising the facility’s Mixing Theatre and connected Screening Theatre.
Pressure is one of the latest high-profile productions to have been mixed in the Adelaide Studios facilities, along with Dario Russo’s The Fox, Dev Patel’s Monkey Man, SA director Sophie Hyde’s Jimpa and BAFTA nominated feature film Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, as well as Maras’ 2018 film Hotel Mumbai.
“Having a full colour grading suite alongside the mixing theatre is absolutely ideal. When you’re fighting for time and have to be across picture and sound, having them all under one roof is a lifesaver,” Maras said.
“I couldn’t have been more proud of what our post team did in South Australia, and they finished our film as well as anyone could have anywhere.”

Set to open in cinemas across Australia on 29 October, Pressure has already earned international acclaim, scoring 89% on Rotten Tomatoes off the back of rave reviews from New York Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety and more.
