A message from the CEO

Dear industry colleagues,
 
I would like to share with you how honoured I am to take on the role of CEO in this iconic and beloved institution, the South Australian Film Corporation. We are renowned for the quality and impact of South Australian production. South Australian films are the top three grossing titles of the year to date at the Australian box office; home grown TV series The Hunting is SBS’s highest rating Australian drama ever; and the state’s biggest film production to date – Mortal Kombat – started shooting this week. I want to acknowledge the vision and efforts of our previous CEOs Courtney Gibson and Annabelle Sheehan in setting in motion this great run of production.
 
Over the past 15 years I have built a successful career in the South Australian screen industry, working my way from unpaid intern to attachment to freelancer to producer. I have established and run production businesses and created work with interstate and international partners. For more than a decade I have been a passionate and vocal advocate for all that our state’s screen sector has to offer.
 
My vision for the South Australian screen industry is a thriving ecosystem of distinctive creative talent, skilled technicians and prosperous businesses generating intellectual property, services and employment for the sector. I believe the SAFC’s role is to create the conditions for the growth and prosperity of all the components of the South Australian screen industry.
 
Over the next two months I will be working with the Screen South Australia Advisory Committee established by Minister Pisoni to determine recommendations for achieving this growth. I will also be working with the SAFC Board and executive team to set the organisation’s strategic priorities and align these with our programs. I have begun the process of consulting widely to gather feedback to inform these plans and I look forward to sharing the outcomes with you at an industry event in the near future.
