SAFC bids farewell to Tony Young

09 February 2024

The SAFC bids a very fond farewell to Tony Young, who finishes as the SAFC’s IT Manager this month after an incredible 30 years working in the SA screen industry and 20 years working with the SAFC.

Tony’s first 10 years in the screen industry were spent working as a sound editor and sound recordist on more than two dozen film and television productions. He then moved into an IT position with the SAFC, first at the Hendon facility and later at the Adelaide Studios facilities from 2011.

As IT Manager, Tony has been a vital part of the SAFC team, supporting the SAFC’s post sound operations at Hendon and Adelaide Studios as well as assisting productions, tenants and staff with their IT needs across the last decade.  At last count, Tony had provided IT support to more than 70 productions since 2003!

SAFC CEO Kate Croser said Tony would be sorely missed.

“One of our longest-serving staff members, Tony has been an integral and much-loved member of the SAFC for over 20 years. Tony’s background in post sound and his specialist ability to craft practical IT solutions for screen production environments have made him an invaluable asset, not only to the agency, but to all tenants and productions that have enjoyed the privilege of working with him. I have greatly valued the many thoughtful insights Tony has shared with me in service of the SAFC’s purpose.

On behalf of everyone at the SAFC I’d like to thank Tony for his dedication, passion, professionalism and hard work, and we wish him the very best in his next endeavour,” she said.

Tony’s last day will be Wednesday 28 February. The SAFC will put in place arrangements to ensure continuity of service for production clients, tenants and the SAFC, with further details to be advised in due course.
