GENERAL GUIDELINES AND STANDARD TERMS OF TRADE

The General Guidelines provide the basic framework for all of the South Australian Film Corporation’s programs and initiative guidelines. The South Australian Film Corporation’s Standard Terms of Trade provide guidance on how the South Australian Film Corporation will conduct its business.

1. PRODUCTION FINANCE

The Production Investment program supports the production of feature films, television drama and documentary projects. In particular those that are creative and original, possess overall appeal to diverse audiences, display good market prospects and have significant economic benefits to the South Australian production and post-production film and television sector.

The Producer Equity Scheme (PES) is a mechanism designed to transfer the South Australian Film Corporation’s recoupment rights in the films in which it invests to the South Australian producer/s of those films.

The SAFC is pleased to announce that the new Screen Culture and Professional Development Program Grants Guidelines have now been finalised. Funding is provided to organisations whose core activities and programs significantly contribute to the promotion and development of screen culture and professional development outcomes for South Australian film and digital makers in line with the SAFC’s strategic plan.

4. CONTENT ATTRACTION

04.01 FILM SERVICES

The SAFC’s free and confidential locations and production liaison service helps producers to source locations, facilities and crew. The SAFC can assist with on-the-ground costs for inbounds for location searches (financial assistance available on a case by case basis if funds are available)and can put you in contact with South Australian location managers experienced in international and domestic feature film, television and television commercial production.

04.02 PAYROLL TAX EXEMPTIONS

The South Australian Government offers a payroll tax exemption to producers shooting feature films in South Australia. The incentive reduces the film’s payroll total by approximately 4.95%.

5. SPECIAL INITIATIVES

05.04 WRITING FOR FILM

Writing for Film is a special initiative targeted at emerging and professional writers, producers and directors for cinema. Through a combination of workshops and intensive one on one project development, Writing for Film will help practitioners develop their development expertise and will support a selected group of promising projects through financed development to a market-ready stage.

05.06 THE FACTORY

The FACTory is a $2.1 million joint initiative between the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) and Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) which is designed to assist in the development of the South Australian independent television production sector by developing and co-financing several factual entertainment series for prime time broadcast on ABC1.
