As CEO of the South Australian Film Corporation, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the SAFC’s new and improved website, which provides a rich interactive resource for anyone interested in making films in South Australia.

These are exciting and challenging times for the SAFC and for the South Australian industry, as we come to terms with significant changes to federal film financing, and a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Recent announcements made by the South Australian Premier will help us to prepare for these changes and to build on the very solid film foundations that have been established in this state over the past thirty-five years.

In particular, the development of the new Adelaide Film and Screen Centre will provide not only a new physical home for the SAFC, but a centre for local practitioners, not to mention state-of-the-art production and post-production facilities that will provide the structural underpinning for the industry for the next thirty years. At the same time, the SAFC has been granted additional funding for a low-budget film development initiative, the Film Lab, which will assist the development of the next generation of South Australian creative talent.

These initiatives will help South Australia continue to build on its reputation as the home of independent production, as well as building on its incredible advantages as a production destination. SA’s talent base, crews, locations, post-production facilities and expertise, as well as its general film-friendly atmosphere continue to create a compelling proposition for independent filmmakers from around the country and around the globe.
