Current short film initatives running at the MRC

The Media Resource Centre (MRC) is happy to announce the launch of three short form production initiatives.

1. 60 SECOND STORIES
This new initiative aims to assist South Australian filmmakers to develop and produce an engaging and entertaining 1 minute film, in any genre or format, for online festival entry. Each selected project will receive two days free equipment and facilities hire from the Media Resource Centre up to the value of $2500. Applications close 4pm Monday 25 June 2012.

2. CLIP IT!
Clip It! is an exciting, new music video production initiative run by the Media Resource Centre, in association with Music SA and Canon Australia. Clip It! aims to assist MRC filmmakers develop and produce music clips for local SA bands, interpreting each song in a creative and resourceful way. This year the MRC will support the production of 5 music clips by 5 local filmmakers, jointly applying with local bands. The MRC will grant $500 cash investment towards the production of each clip as well as up to $2,500 worth of in-kind investment to be used on MRC camera equipment and/or post-facilities hire. Each production will also be granted two day’s free hire of a DSLR MK III camera plus L-series lenses, kindly supplied by Canon Australia.

The MRC will attach a Supervising Producer as well as an experienced director, cinematography and/or editing mentor to each production as appropriate. Applications close 4pm Monday 16 July 2012.

3. FRAME BY FRAME
This initiative aims to assist emerging filmmakers to develop and produce engaging, entertaining short animations of up to 7 minutes in length in any genre. This year we intend to shortlist up to six teams to participate in an intensive six week script development phase consulting with the MRC development team. Of the projects supported with development, up to three will then be green-lit for production with $3,000 cash and $2,000 in-kind production investment from the MRC.

Applicants are encouraged to attend the MRC Animation Seminar at the Mercury on Monday June 4th, from 5:30pm till 6:30pm, followed by networking drinks in the foyer. Applications close 4pm Monday 16 July 2012.
