The Melbourne International Film Festival has announced a partnership with the FOCUS FORWARD Short Films, Big Ideas initiative to present a number of three-minute documentaries directed by high profile documentary makers in world premiere at MIFF 2012. More details about this exciting program will be unveiled closer to the festival.

In the meantime, here is a tasty enticement from the FOCUS FORWARD initiative for filmmakers to get involved, which will see the winning films screen at Sundance 2013.

FOCUS FORWARD – Short Films, Big Ideas is a series of three-minute films highlighting exceptional people and ideas that are changing our lives for the better.

If you have an idea for a three-minute nonfiction film around the theme of invention and innovation, then it's time to get to work! The FOCUS FORWARD initiative has $200,000 USD in cash prizes to give to the top five entries in the FOCUS FORWARD Filmmaker Challenge, with $100,000 going to the Grand Prize Winner.

Submissions close on August 23.
